January 20, 2017 The 2017 Inspiration to Action Symposium brings together leaders in education who strive to push for systemic improvements in special education. The FREE event, hosted on February 16 from 8:30 a.m. to 2:45 p.m. at at the Double Tree San Diego Mission Valley features nationwide leaders in special education who deliver tools and resources for attendees to take back to their schools and implement changes that can improve student outcomes.
The keynote speaker is Randy Lewis, former Senior Vice President at Walgreens and founder of NOGWOG. While at Walgreens he pioneered a disability employment model in its distribution centers that resulted in ten percent of its workforce consisting of people with disabilities. This initiative is being rolled out nationwide in Walgreen stores across America. It is changing the lives of thousands and serving as a model for other employers in the U.S. and abroad. Another featured speaker is Kristin Wright, the Director of Special Education at California's Department of Education (CDE), who has spent more than a decade working in education with a focus on special education and is now in charge of all special education work at the CDE.
