Coming Soon: Application for Charter School Facilities Program Preliminary Apportionment

  • Print

January 27, 2017 With the approval of Proposition 51, $500 million is available for a new Charter School Facilities Program (CSFP) application filing round. The CSFP provides preliminary apportionments (reservations of bond authority) for charter school new construction and rehabilitation projects.  Charter schools, or school districts filing on behalf of a charter school, may apply.

To qualify for rehabilitation, the charter school project must rehabilitate district-owned existing facilities that are at least 15 years old for charter school use.  To qualify for funding, the charter school must be deemed financially sound by the California School Finance Authority (CSFA).

To apply, applicants must submit a complete and valid Application for Charter School Preliminary Apportionment (Form SAB 50-09) and all supporting documents between Feb. 6, 2017 through June 5, 2017.  Applications received after 5 p.m. on June 5, 2017 will be returned.  Applications may be hand delivered or mailed to the Office of Public School Construction (OPSC) (address below). Applications may not be emailed, faxed, or electronically submitted.  Applications must have an original "wet" signature; stamped, scanned or copied signatures will not be accepted.

OPSC will provide a webinar to provide outreach on the CSFP and the application process.  The specific date of the webinar will be announced soon.  For additional information on the CSFP and updates regarding the new application filing round, please visit the CSFP webpage.

For additional information about the financial soundness review process and requirements, please visit the CSFA webpage.
