November 20, 2016 Question: Most of our students walked out of school after first period to join the recent election protests. Can we still claim ADA for them since they attended school for part of the day?

Answer: Yes. Charter schools may claim ADA for students if they attend school for any part of an instructional day. Unlike traditional public schools, charter schools do not have a required minimum number of instructional minutes per day. However, charter schools do have a required number of total instructional minutes that they must meet annually in order to receive full apportionment. Charter schools are also required to operate a minimum of 175 days each fiscal year to receive full funding.
