CCSA to Host Webinar Addressing Foster Youth Needs

  • Print

October 28, 2016 On Friday, November 18 at 10 a.m., CCSA is hosting an upcoming webinar called Meeting the Needs of Foster Youth in Your School where participants will hear from experts in the foster youth advocacy industry about unique issues foster youth face at school, the specific California education laws that apply to foster youth, how these laws apply to charter schools, and how one charter school leveraged a successful community partnership to benefit their foster youth.

Given that the local control funding formula (LCFF) includes foster youth as an identified sub-group and local education agencies (LEAs) are required to outline services and goals for foster youth in their local control and accountability plan (LCAP), it is an excellent time to begin discussing how charter schools can best serve foster youth.

Those who participate will hear from the following expert speakers:

  • Angela Vazquez, MSW, from FosterEd, a project of the National Center for Youth Law
  • Danielle Tenner, Esq., from Alliance for Children's Rights
  • Melissa Pena, Ed.M, from Green Dot Public Schools

Date: November 18, 2016

Time: 10:00 am to 11:00 am
