CCSA Answers: Parent Notification about Title I or Title III Status

  • Print

October 10, 2016 Question: Under the new Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA), must schools still notify parents/guardians of Title I Program Improvement (PI) Status or Title III Improvement Status?

Answer: No. Under ESSA, these parental notification letters are not required. However, LEAs may still notify parents/guardians about alternative supports and the choice to transfer to another public school that was not identified for PI.
A sample parental notification template is available from the State Board of Education, here.
