Education was a hot topic in the Capitol this week: the Senate Education Committee held an informational hearing on the current status of the Local Control Funding Formula; the Legislative Analyst’s Office released two education reports: a report recommending a repeal of last year’s school district reserve cap in the budget, and a review of initial Local Control Accountability Plans. There was also debate about the three different school bond proposals floating around; and finally, Governor Brown and University of California President Janet Napolitano formed a committee of two to take a holistic look at UC Finances.

Charter School Revolving Loan Funding Round Open

The California School Finance Authority (CSFA) opened the 2014-15 funding round for the Charter School Revolving Loan Fund Program. The application due date is February 24, 2015 at 5 pm. Please see CSFA’s website for a copy of the FAQ, loan application, and instructions. This program provides loans of up to $250,000 to charter schools in their first charter term.

Local Control Accountability Plan Webinar Series

 

The State Board of Education along with WestEd announced that registration is now available for Part 3 of LCAP Webinar Series for local educational agencies. The LCAP Webinar Part 3 – Making Data Meaningful in the LCAP will be presented from 3:30-4:30 pm on Monday, February 2, 2015. You can view the full post and register here.  WestEd is the California State Board of Education’s Local Control Funding Formula resource provider, and their LCFF website provides a wide range of  resources to supporting local implementation of California’s LCFF and LCAPs.
