Question: Who is the authorizer in the case where a direct-funded charter school is applying for renewal in a tiny district that has transformed itself into an all-charter district? The County Office of Education?

Answer: The district will still be the authorizer for each of the direct-funded charter schools within that district. This means that the renewal process is the same and there shouldn't be any other legal or operational changes for the individual, direct-funded charter school. The County Office of Education does have certain oversight options for all of the charter schools in its geographical area but does not become the authorizer when there is a district conversion.
