Question: Is a charter school required to state in their petition whether or not they want to be their own Local Educational Agency (LEA)?

Answer: Charter schools need to disclose their entire governance structure and describe their financial planning process, financial obligations and procedure for conducting their audit. A direct funded charter school is designated to be an LEA.
