Governor Brown was in New York this week to give a speech at the United Nation’s Climate Summit. Now Governor Brown is back in town, and has resumed work on legislation. We expect a flurry of activity over the next 4 days as the Governor races to take action on the bills on his desk before the midnight deadline on September 30.

Non-classroom-based Funding Determination Forms Available

The California Department of Education (CDE) has announced that the non-classroom-based funding determination forms and instructions for Fiscal Year 2014-15 are currently available on the CDE’s Senate Bill 740 page. The page also provides the regulations governing the funding determination criteria and process. Education Code [EC] Section 47612.5 prohibits a nonclassroom-based charter school from receiving any funding for instruction unless the State Board of Education (SBE) determines its eligibility for funding. The CDE’s Charter Schools Division, will be hosting an information webinar on the nonclassroom-based funding determination process for nonclassroom-based charter schools on September 30, 2014, at 9:30 am. University of California A-G Articulation Conferences

The University of California has announced that in February 2015 it is releasing an online platform to submit A-G courses. In anticipation of this rollout, they are hosting several UC Articulation Conferences (UCAC). High school teachers, curriculum coordinators, counselors, and administrators can attend any of the conferences happening at four UC campuses. Participants will learn about the release of a brand new A-G Course Management Portal, enhanced “a-g” course criteria and UC’s role in supporting the state’s transition to Common Core.

Registration for the conference is $45 and includes a half-day program, parking and lunch. There are four conference dates:

October 15: UC Riverside
October 15: UC Irvine - SOLD OUT
October 21: UC Berkeley - SOLD OUT
October 27: UC Davis
