CCSA and the Special Education Team would like to congratulate Ms. Logan Juve Janicula from Rocketship Los Sueños for winning CCSA's first STAR Award!

The STAR Award is a program that recognizes and celebrates charter school teachers, program administrators and coordinators, and school leaders, in the field of special education who demonstrate innovation and best practices serving students with disabilities.

After receiving many outstanding nominations, and after careful consideration, it was evident that Ms. Janicula stood out as a teacher who has perfected the art of inclusive special education. Her reading instruction and innovative collaboration and co-teaching partnerships with general education teachers clearly yield significant gains for her students. We admire her impressive commitment to ensuring that her students continue to have access to high quality programs even after they leave Rocketship.

"As a special education teacher, I am inspired by our students who aren't afraid to take risks and make mistakes if it means they will grow their brains. They challenge me daily to innovate, to meet the needs of those growing brains, and humble me consistently with their perseverance in the face of challenge. In short, I cannot imagine a more rewarding career than that of a special educator," said Janicula.
