March 17, 2014 Under the Incorporation Services Program, qualifying CCSA members can receive pro bono or reduced rate legal support with the incorporation and tax exemption process from outside attorneys.

CCSA members located in Los Angeles and San Diego counties may receive pro bono legal services from a public interest law group if they can demonstrate that their target demographic includes at least 50% free and reduced price eligible students. Members elsewhere in the state may receive reduced rate legal services from the law firm of Young, Minney & Corr if their target demographic includes at least 30% free and reduced price eligible students.

In general, the incorporation and tax exemption services that the attorneys will provide include the following:

  • Drafting and filing Articles of Incorporation to form the school corporation
  • Drafting related corporate documents such as bylaws and initial board resolutions
  • Preparing and filing federal and state income tax exemption applications, once the charter has been approved
