LAUSD Authorized Schools: Form 700 Filing Deadline - March 21

  • Print

February 13, 2014 LAUSD's Charter Office recently reminded school leaders of their obligation to file a Form 700 with LAUSD under its Conflict of Interest Code by March 21, 2014. Read letter here.

Based upon prior enforcement actions by the Fair Political Practices Commission (FPPC), we know that LAUSD reports to the FPPC individuals who fail to comply with this obligation, and many of those individuals have received financial penalties of up to $200.

CCSA in the past has advised schools to consultant legal counsel to determine whether LAUSD's Conflict of Interest Code applies to your school or whether your school has (or should) adopt its own Conflict of Interest Code.

We note that LAUSD's Policy for Charter School Authorizing, revised February 7, 2012, states that "every member of a public charter school board of directors and each public charter school officer, employee, or consultant meeting the three-pronged criteria established under state law shall file a state-mandated Form 700 Statement of Economic Interests." In any event, we suggest you consider this matter seriously and take appropriate action.
