Question: What is the requirement for tuberculosis testing in charter schools and how often must these records be updated?

Answer: Education Code 49406 requires that certificated and classified employees of all public schools, including charter schools, be determined free of active tuberculosis by an appropriately licensed physician within the first 60 days of employment. Thereafter, employees are required to undergo tuberculosis testing every four years.
