January 4, 2014 America's Finest Charter School (AFCS) announced the appointment of Stewart A. Halpern, retired Chief Financial Officer of San Diego-based Mad Catz Interactive, Inc. and Julian McMillan, Managing Partner of San Diego's McMillan Law Group to its board of directors. The appointments increase the size of AFCS' board to seven members.

"As AFCS continues to grow to expand its mission of accelerating our students' academic achievement and to foster in all students the principles of quality, compassion and endeavor embodied in the American Dream, we are delighted to add to our board these two accomplished local businessmen and the financial and legal expertise they bring with them," said Jan Perry, AFCS co-founder and executive director.

"Ensuring that all children in San Diego have access to a quality education is vital to our community, and I am honored to join the AFCS Board to support the great work they are doing," Halpern said.

McMillan added, "every parent wants a great education for their children, so I am happy to see and support how innovative and effective AFCS has been."
