November 22, 2013 With public education at a crossroads in the United States, several American cities have emerged as the centers of innovation and progress in education policy at a time when national policies are at the mercy of a legislative stalemate in Washington. The Mayors for Educational Excellence Tour is coming to the Guild Theater in Sacramento on December 12.

Come hear how real, actionable policies are being implemented to revolutionize the education of our youngest generations. This tour features Mayors Julian Castro (San Antonio), Michael Hancock (Denver), and Angel Taveras (Providence) for a community town hall hosted by Mayor Kevin Johnson. This event is the second stop on the national Mayors for Educational Excellence Tour (MEET). Each mayor is a byproduct of the public education system in the city he now leads, which plays a large role in their collective passion for education improvement. This discussion will provide a fresh look at how public education can be strengthened and improved at the municipal level.
