August 2, 2013 The Federal Public Charter Schools Grant Program (PCSGP) is administered by the Charter Schools Division. Grants are reviewed by peer evaluators and are awarded to nonprofit entities and local education agencies that are likely to develop and open high-quality charter schools.

The primary focus of the PCSGP is to create charter schools that will provide public school choice to students whose assigned traditional public school is chronically low performing. The application is available as of August 1, 2013. Completed applications and all required forms must be received by the CDE Charter Schools Division on or before (not postmarked by) 4:30 p.m., September 16, 2013.

For more information, we encourage all interested schools to attend a Webinar hosted by CDE on August 6, 2013, from 9:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. If you are unable to participate during the Webinar, the CDE will have an archived copy of the Webinar available on the CDE Web page.
