SCOE to Appoint Interim Trustee for Area 5
July 19, 2013 Last week the Sacramento County Board of Education voted to appoint a replacement on August 20th, rather than holding a special election to fill the Trustee seat representing area 5 (Folsom/Rancho Cordova/Rancho Murrieta). CCSA is actively seeking potential candidates to fill the seat.
The seat was previously held by Penny Schwinn, The founder of Capitol Collegiate Academy, who resigned earlier this month to take an assistant superintendent position with Sacramento City Unified School District. In her letter of resignation to Sacramento , Penny stated that this was a "difficult decision" but she was "proud to have been a part of their incredible efforts".
The California Education Code prohibits school district employees from sitting on school boards, including the county. However, charter school employees may be eligible. If you are interested in learning more about serving on the board, please contact Laura Kerr.
