Serving Our Most Vulnerable Youth - Stuart Foundation Update

  • Print

May 30, 2013 Thank you so much to all of you who have participated in the Stuart Foundation meeting last meeting on Thursday! Outlined below are major takeaways, next steps and information about the upcoming meeting. If you did not have a chance to participate, please don't hesitate to reach out to us if you have any questions.

Updates and takeaways:

  • Please save the dates for Special Education Administrators Academy - the training and PD opportunity through EDCOE is happening July 29th-August 2nd. It is free for EDCOE members and we were able to secure additional spots for five additional members of our group. More information about registering for the training will be sent to you as soon as it becomes available.
  • Please note that we are in the process of securing a staff person to assist you with data collection, coordination, and outreach efforts for the duration of the grant period.

Discussion:

The group reviewed and provided input on the types of variables that we are going to collect in order to show improved outcomes for foster youth and other at-risk youth. The grid has been updated, and further revisions will be made to differentiate between elementary, middle, and high school levels.

Next Steps:

  • If you have not done so already, please sign the data sharing agreement as soon as possible and provide us with a list of potential foster youth to verify through the SCOE Foster Focus Database. Please note that even if you do not currently serve foster youth at your site, our work is geared towards supporting students with special needs as well, and we will be working to collect data on this population in the upcoming months.
