New Maps to Help Developers as they Explore Potential Sites for their School
March 29, 2013
Understanding community needs and assets is one of the first steps in the school development process. Using publicly available data from the CDE, CCSA has created a series of maps designed to support developers as they explore potential locations for their schools. Three maps are currently available:
- Academic Performance: Whether you are searching for an area with high need for a school or writing your petition and developing a case for the need for your school, use this map to view Academic Performance Indices (API) for district schools and charter schools.
- School Enrollment: If you are working to understand where enrollment has decreased within a given district or which schools might have open space, start with the School Enrollment map, which draws on enrollment information for the last six academic years.
- Free or Reduced Price Meals: If it is your mission to serve a high need population or you are in the process of making sense of the Charter School Facilities Program, this map can serve as a starting point for identifying areas where there are high rates of students who qualify for free or reduced price meals.
All of these maps are currently in beta. Take a look and let us know what you think!
