CCSA Objects to LAUSD's Denial of Expansion of High-Performing Charter School

March 1, 2013 The LAUSD Board of Education recently failed to approve the expansion of a high-performing, award-winning charter school when it effectively "split" consideration of the school's renewal charter petition into two motions - without consent of the charter school: approval of the renewal charter petition and a failed motion to approve the expansion. CCSA has written a letter objecting to the failure to approve the expansion and requesting immediate action to approve the expansion. CCSA is concerned about the potential impacts to other charter schools seeking to expand or make other organizational changes through the renewal process.
