William and Flora Hewlett Foundation in San Diego this April 4-6 at High Tech High

February 18, 2013 A conference is being sponsored by the William and Flora Hewlett Foundation in San Diego from April 4-6. This invitation-only conference will bring together amazing teachers to truly engage together--not a typical conference of panels and speakers-- in activities and conversations about Deeper Learning.

What is Deeper Learning anyway? Basically, the Hewlett Foundation has been behind an initiative to support great teaching and they've put the name "Deeper Learning" on what has traditionally been known as "great teaching" (also referred to as 21st Century skills in some circles.) This loosely structured (almost un-conference) will bring amazing and innovative teachers to San Diego in April to ponder what structures need to be in place to promote Deeper Learning and how can we make it happen more? Learn more.

The conference will be hosted by High Tech High and held on its campus April 5-6. There is an exciting pre-conference day, April 4, that you can sign up for, as well. The registration process opens in February.

  1. Go to the DL2013 event website and apply for an invitation.
  2. Wait to receive the invitation code via email.
  3. Register. (There is an early bird rate reduced rate. San Diego educators can use the Promotion Code: SDLocal to continue to get the reduced rate.)
  4. Join us on April 5-6. Register for April 4's pre-conference if you're interested in a day of Design Thinking with the Open Educational Resources community!
