February 8, 2013 Update from John Madrid

I wanted to say thank you to all of you who participated in the recent round of Central Valley Regional Charter Leader Meetings. I can say without a doubt that they are some of the best meetings we've had to date. The Modesto area meeting included special guest Assembly Member Kristen Olsen who sits as the Vice Chair of the Assembly Education Committee. It was very exciting to have her attend and provide charter leaders the opportunity to listen to her and pose questions.

The Fresno area meeting was well attended and had a hearty discussion of raising the visibility of the successes of Central Valley charter schools on a statewide bases, including the Association's Annual Conference. The Bakersfield area meeting, our newest developed meeting is progressing nicely with charter leaders discussing ways to support each other and generate community support for continued charter school growth in Kern County.

There were new member who attended and a handful of special guest invited to expose them of the exciting things happening in our local charter school movement. We are looking to add components into these meeting to ensure the best use of your time and add elements that will keep members attending in such great numbers. Please send me your feedback.
