January 3, 2013 Aspire Public Schools, Lighthouse Community Charter, and KIPP Bay Area Schools (KIPP Bridge) were recently recognized for their significant impact by education experts on the Local Education 2012 Philanthropedia list, a division of Guidestar. The group of 99 experts looked at a variety of start-up and non-profit organizations. Non-profits serving pre-K to high schools students were reviewed that encompassed after-school programming, child development, college preparation, curriculum development, data collection, literacy, low-performing schools, parental involvement, school readiness, school reform, standards, summer programming, the achievement gap and more. Organizations recommended could approach the issue through direct service, advocacy, research, and school instruction.
