January 18, 2013 Girls and Women in Sports Day is February 2 at SDSU's Viejas Arena. The event starts at 12:30 pm with activities for students to interact with and learn from SDSU women athletes and coaches. Immediately following the pre-game activities, the Aztec women's basketball team takes on Air Force, with tip-off at 2:00 pm.

Game tickets are free for K-8 students and their parents/guardians/chaperones. High school students are welcome, but cannot receive free tickets, as per NCAA recruiting rules.

Students will be able to get autographs, take pictures, hear powerful messages about academic achievement, and get playing and training tips from SDSU women athletes and coaches. Past Sports Days have been very successful. The pre-game activities are a sight to behold, with thousands of youngsters hitting, throwing, passing, kicking, screaming and enjoying every varsity sport offered to women at SDSU.

Pre-game activities are free but tickets are required to attend the game. To request tickets, contact Laura Ferschweiler at 858.292.3753 or lfersch@sdcoe.net. Tickets must be ordered in advance as no tickets will be issued on February 2. Both the pre-game activities and the game are at Viejas Arena. Parking is $1 per hour in the parking structure. If you have questions about the event, please call Aztec Basketball at 619-594-0760.
