CCSA Answers: Pertussis Vaccination Deadline

September 14, 2012

Question: What is the deadline by which students must provide proof of their pertussis vaccination, in order for charter schools to receive ADA for these students?

Answer: 7th grade students must meet the Tdap requirement before starting the 2012-13 school year. The timing of the first day of classes may vary by school. The immunization records of pupils are included in the annual audit to ensure that schools are not claiming ADA for students attending class who have not met the Tdap requirement.

Unlike the 2011-12 school year, the Legislature has not granted an optional extension period for this year; 7th graders must meet the Tdap (pertussis booster) requirement to begin classes.

This is a follow up to a previously answer question "Do charter school students need to be immunized against pertussis (whooping cough)?"
