September 7, 2012 The California Department of Education (CDE) has announced that the 2012-13 Application for the SB State Board of Education to Consider PCSGP Application.

The State Board of Education (SBE) meets next week Thursday, September 13. The SBE is scheduled to act on the revised Request for Applications (RFA) for the federal Public Charter Schools Grant Program (PCGSP).

The California Department of Education (CDE) has been working on revising the application this fall, which contains a number of changes from the prior round. The revisions are intended to provide greater clarification on a number of issues to increase the approval success rate of submitted applications. CCSA appreciates the CDE's efforts to engage us in the process and to address many concerns that had been identified with the prior grant process.

If approved by the SBE, the RFA will be available immediately, and applications would be due by October 12. Schools that opened this year or will have submitted a charter to an authorizer by October 12 will be eligible to apply. The draft RFA is posted as Item 10 in the SBE's September agenda. Given the relatively short timeline to apply, all open and developing schools that may be eligible are encouraged to review the draft application now.
