SBE Approves Start-Up Grant Application: Webinar on September 19

  • Print

September 14, 2012 The State Board of Education (SBE) met in Sacramento on September 13, and approved the application for the Public Charter Schools Grant Program (PCSGP). CDE will post the final Request for Application (RFA) on the PCSGP webpage, so bookmark the page and check back over the next few days for when the RFA is posted.

All potential applicants must download the FINAL version of the RFA, as there have been some minor changes to the draft that was presented to the SBE. This year, schools that have submitted a charter petition by the application deadline, but have not yet been approved by their authorizer, are eligible to submit a grant application. This is a significant change to the eligibility for the PCSGP and we thank CDE for including this expanded eligibility. We are encouraged by the recent changes to the RFA, which are intended to ensure more schools receive PCSGP funding in a timelier manner (approximately $60 million is available for distribution).

Please note these important dates:

  • CDE will host a webinar on the new RFA on September 19
  • Applications are due to CDE no later than October 12
