September 6, 2012 The San Diego Countywide Special Education Authority (JPA) was established to enable charter schools in San Diego County, regardless of authorizer or SELPA affiliation, to strengthen their special education expertise and improve the quality and range of special education services available to their students.

By partnering with other charter schools and highly esteemed service providers in the San Diego County, charter schools participating in the JPA have the opportunity to share best practices, access high quality service providers at affordable rates, and build the capacity to offer a full continuum of program options with ease and efficiency.

The JPA currently provides support to member schools in their quest to secure LEA membership in a state-approved special education local plan area (SELPA) and is actively working to developing a network of shared special education services and programs that align with the quality and innovation inherent to the charter school movement.

Charter schools interested in sharing special education services or learning more about the San Diego Countywide Special Education Authority are encouraged to attend the Board of Directors Meeting and Open House to follow on September 18, 2012.

Date: September 18, 2012
Time: 1:30-3:30 p.m.
Location: Bayshore Preparatory Charter School, 1175 Linda Vista Drive, San Marcos
