September 21, 2012 Once back-to-school craziness is behind you, Regional Charter Leader meetings are the perfect way to reconnect with your colleagues and get important updates about the statewide policies and issues that will impact your school.

Next week, we'll be convening meetings in Redding and Sacramento. Some of the agenda items will be identical, and others are region-specific. Both meetings will feature:

  • An introduction to CCSA Advocates, CCSA's sister organization that is getting more involved in supporting pro-charter candidates and ballot measures
  • An update on CCSA's nationally recognized work on charter school performance, including a new framework for identifying 'high impact' charter schools
  • Ideas for solving your facility issuses, like Prop. 39 in-lieu agreements and a limited time priority on surplus property
  • We'll also be soliciting your input for 2013 legislative priorities.

Local topics will vary, based on member interest: In Sacramento, we'll have a special presentation from EdTech on cashflow solutions for charter schools, and regional breakout sessions. We will also take time to say farewell to Dr. David Patterson, who is moving onto the national charter school development scene, and welcome a new Member Council Representative, Jim Scheible, from St. HOPE Public Schools.

The Redding meeting will focus on upcoming 20th Anniversary celebrations in Chico (October) and Redding (January). Casey Taylor and Susan Powers, from Achieve Charter School of Paradise, will facilitate a discussion about engaging parents and families in school budget issues.

Whether you're interested in local issues, or statewide topics, regional meetings are the place to get what you need. The meetings are free, but seating is limited. Register today!
