Mandate Block Grant Update: Letters of Intent Due October 1, 2012

September 6, 2012 We recently shared information about the K-12 Mandates Block Grant.

The California Department of Education (CDE) is now accepting Letters of Intent to Participate in the Mandate Block Grant (MBG) program for fiscal year 2012-13. A completed Letter of Intent to participate in the MBG must be submitted to CDE by October 1, 2012 to receive 2012-13 MBG funding.

Charter schools (both locally and direct funded) should have each received an individualized Letter of Intent to participate in the MBG. The Letter of Intent for your local educational agency (LEA) was e-mailed to the superintendent or administrator indicated on the California School Directory. Please be sure to check that e-mail address for the MBG notification. If you are having trouble locating the Letter of Intent sent to your LEA, please notify mandate@cde.ca.gov and request another copy.

The CDE has established a new Mandate Block Grant Web. The page includes information on the MBG as well as links to the letter and a sample of the Letter of Intent that was sent to your agency contact. Schools may also submit questions to CDE to mandate@cde.ca.gov.
