Ready to Expand Your Program?

June 7, 2012 Charter schools in SDUSD are finding great success in growing their schools through expansion of their current program by adding grades to their current petition. They are finding a much less bureaucratic process in making a material revision to their charter petition, rather than writing a brand new petition. This process in SDUSD requires no public hearing, just one easy meeting.

There are positives and negatives to this approach. On the positive side it is a much less time consuming process and more importantly, it guarantees a feeder pattern for your students. Students have the ability to transfer to the elementary program, to the middle to the high school without any worries about participating in a lottery. On the negative side you are not eligible for the Public Charter School Grant Program, however this program has become quite cumbersome itself and is highly competitive so there are no guarantees anyway.

We have lots of webinars for our new charter developers that may prove to be helpful to those looking to make material revisions to their charters to expand. Check out our events calendar. Also feel free to reach out to me with any questions.
