An Important Update from Bay Area Regional Director, Elaine Guarnieri-Nunn

June 15, 2012 It is with mixed emotions that I am letting you know that I will be leaving CCSA to take on a new opportunity beginning June 25. I was asked to be the new Executive Director of the EnCorps Teachers Program, which recruits and supports STEM professionals into second careers as math and science teachers. I am returning to my former organization to lead it into a new phase of growth, to help strengthen the organization and begin to expand it nationally. This is a position which marries my long experience and interest in teacher development with my career in urban reform.

Despite all this, this was not an easy decision: I have such respect for all the charter leaders and school principals who I have met in my brief time at CCSA. Thank you to those who welcomed me into your schools during my many school visits; I am constantly amazed by the diversity and creativity of many of you in the charter space. You can reach out to Allison Bajracharya, Vice President, Regional Advocacy, who will help support you in the interim while CCSA conducts a search for my replacement. You can reach her at

I will continue to be a champion of charter schools across the state and in my new position, I hope to be able to partner with many of you to help bring high quality teachers to your amazing schools. My new email is Please keep in touch.

Best, Elaine
