May 18, 2012 We're looking forward to seeing you at our Spring Regional Meeting on May 24th. Our agenda includes opportunities to engage with each other around the use of data, School Board Election Information and Dos and Don'ts for non-profits, and Need- to-Know-Now Budget and legislative updates. We've built in opportunities to engage/network with one another and will also have the chance to tour DCP Alum Rock (see info below) and see their learning lab. This will be a packed and productive 2 hours so we hope to see you there!

When: Thursday, May 24, 2012 at 10 a.m. - noon
Where: Downtown College Prep (DCP) Alum Rock in East San Jose

Spotlight on DCP Alum Rock - DCP Alum Rock is a charter school serving grades 6-8 in the Alum Rock Union Elementary School District. The school will grow to serve grades 6-12 and currently students participate in 90-minutes of computer-based learning in the areas of math and reading.

Additional Features of DCP Alum Rock:

  • All students take English, Math, Social Studies and Science
  • Every day students participate in 90-minutes of computer-based learning focusing on building and accelerating skills in math and reading
  • All students take College Readiness where they establish personal learning goals and learn the essential "College Knowledge" to prepare for college-prep coursework once in high school
  • All students have teacher advisors who monitor their academic progress
  • Parent community that nurtures parent leadership at the school and builds "College Knowledge" among families.
