Question:
How are direct-funded charter schools funded for Title I?

Answer: Direct-funded charter schools are able to access both state categorical funding, in the form of the categorical block grant, as well as the Title I monies from the federal government. A direct-funded charter school that is its own LEA applies for and receives its funding separately from its authorizing district. If a charter school has its own LEA Plan and applies for Title I funding, it will receive Title I monies based on the number of FRL qualified students they are serving and eligibilities under Federal legislation.
