April 13, 2012 Sol Aureus College Preparatory (SAC Prep) was recently awarded the Title I Academic Achievement Award. SAC Prep is a K-8 charter school authorized by Sacramento City Unified School District. They are an autonomous charter school located in a Proposition 39 facility, and are signatories to SCUSD's High Performing Schools Compact.

The Title I Academic Achievement Award is given only to schools receiving federal Title I funds as authorized by the federal Elementary and Secondary Education Act. Title I funds assist schools in meeting the educational needs of students living near or at the poverty level.

The criteria to qualify for the Title I Academic Achievement Award have become more rigorous in recent years. To meet the criteria for this distinction, a school must demonstrate that all students are making significant progress toward proficiency on California's academic content standards and the school's socioeconomically disadvantaged students must have doubled the achievement targets set for them for two consecutive years.
