The 19th Annual California Charter Schools Conference & Advocacy Week kicks off today!

February 27, 2012 The 19th Annual California Charter Schools Conference & Advocacy Week starts today in Sacramento.

So far, more than 2,500 charter school leaders and supporters from throughout California have registered for the event, which runs through noon on Thursday. The mission of the California Charter Schools Conference is to inspire academic excellence, operational integrity and unity among charter schools throughout California.

In the next few days, charter leaders will attend more than 120 breakout sessions and visit with more than 200 exhibitors and sponsors. Keynote speakers will be Jed Wallace, CEO and President of CCSA, and Dr. Howard Fuller, distinguished professor of education and director of the Institute for the Transformation of Learning at the Maquette University. Dr. Fuller is also the board chair for the Black Alliance for Educational Options.

On Wednesday, Feb. 29, at 3:45 p.m., CCSA will host a free and public rally at the State Capitol to demand funding equity for charter schools. The rally will be held on the North Steps of the Capitol at L and 11 streets.
