External Opportunity: Conference for School Counselors About Issues Impacting Gay Students

January 17, 2012 The California Charter School Association is proud to be a sponsor of the Center for Excellence in School Counseling and Leadership's 3rd Annual National Educator Conference Focused on LGBTQIA Youth. LGBTQIA stands for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Questioning, Intersex and Asexual.

The conference will take place February 17-19 in San Diego, CA. The conference is designed to provide educators with up to date knowledge and skills to support students. Featured Speakers include Gautam Raghavan, official LGBT Liaison to the Obama Administration, the Vice President of the National Education Association, the President Elect of the National Association of Secondary School Principals and the President of the American School Counselor Association. The conference will honor MTV and CNN Anchor Don Lemon on Friday evening, February 17. NOH8 Campaign will also be on hand to take NOH8 photos of educators to put up in their classrooms or offices.

Twenty CEU's are available for MFT's, MSW's, LCSW's and LPCC's. One Graduate Level Unit available through San Diego State University Extended Studies.
