CCSA Discusses STRS Concerns with LACOE

January 20, 2012 We understand that the new LACOE STRS reporting deadlines are untenable for most of you. Subsequently, we, alongside a delegate of charter leaders and back office providers met with LACOE staff on January 19 to discuss an alternative reporting timeline. While the LACOE staff was initially opposed to any changes in the timeline, they were open to listening to our concerns and will follow-up with us in a few weeks as to whether more flexibility can be provided.

In the meantime, we will also follow-up directly with STRS to see if any flexibility can be provided so that charters have a more reasonable opportunity to effectively meet the reporting deadlines. And finally, please remember that although LACOE's new reporting timeline goes into effect February 1, fines for missing the new deadlines will not be imposed until July 1. Please stay tuned for more. In the meantime, thank you to Palisades High School, Green Dot, PUC, The Alliance, ExEd, Charter Works, and EdTec for participating in the STRS conversation.
