CCSA 2012-13 Governor's Budget Brief Now Available

January 13, 2012 Governor Jerry Brown has released his state budget proposal for the 2012-13 fiscal year. The budget proposal contains a significant package of financial supports for charter schools, but the budget plan is largely contingent upon voter approval of the Governor's tax initiative next November. The proposal would provide $2.2 billion to reduce inter-year deferrals which have significantly impacted charter school cash flow. However, the budget provides no Cost of Living Adjustment (COLA) for K-12, so per pupil revenues will remain relatively flat.

As part of our member services, CCSA analyzes the budget as it is introduced, when it undergoes major revisions, and finally, when it is enacted. CCSA's 2012-13 Budget Brief is now available; we encourage you to download it today as you continue your school budget planning. This Brief provides an analysis of the Governor's proposal and its possible impact on charter schools, including estimates of the charter school block grants.
