December 9, 2011 LAUSD has sent out the RFP for its Charter Augmentation Grant Program, a key source of funding for charter facilities.

LAUSD sent out this letter to schools:

"We would like to inform you that the District is now accepting applications for the Charter Augmentation Grant Program. The Program guideline and application can be found at the LAUSD Innovation and Charter Schools Division's website under "For Charter Operators" on the left hand side of the page or by clicking on the following link:

As you may know, the District held a Charter Augmentation Grant Program open house on November 17, 2011 to provide an overview of the program and receive input. We received some good suggestions that were incorporated into the final document. Please read through the final Program guidelines to ensure your proposal meets all requirements.

Please note that the District will hold one competitive round for all proposals received by January 13, 2012. These proposals will be scored and awarded starting with the highest score and moving down the list until all funds have been awarded or all eligible proposals have been allocated funds. If funds are still available after this initial competitive round, then the program will continue to be made available on a first come, first serve basis allowing for rolling submittals. A "Status of Available Funds" is also posted on the website. This document will be updated as grants are awarded and/or Board approved to provide a running tally of the funds remaining. Please review this document to determine fund eligibility prior to submittal of your proposal.

Brianna GarcĂa, who you hopefully had a chance to meet, will be the point of contact for the Charter Augmentation Grant Program. If you have any questions while preparing your submittals, please send those via email to Responses will be posted on the website (Frequently Asked Questions) so that everyone has access to the same information. We look forward to working with you on this new program." - Krisztina Tokes, Director of Facilities Asset Management
