$1500 Susan Steelman Bragato Scholarship Deadline is November 30, 2011
November 17, 2011 At our upcoming conference, CCSA will award five Susan Steelman Bragato scholarships in the amount of $1,500 each to graduating high school seniors of CCSA member schools. These scholarships honor Susan Steelman Bragato, the co-founder of the first charter school in California and the founder of the California Network of Educational Charters (which was renamed the California Charter Schools Association in 2003). Sue was one of the first people to recognize the importance of building a strong network of support among charter school leaders statewide, and organized the first California Charter Schools Conference. Sue died in 2005 after a battle with breast cancer. In honor of her unprecedented contribution to the charter school movement, CCSA named this scholarship for her.
Each CCSA member school may select one (1) graduating high school senior to apply for the scholarship. In selecting your student applicant, please consider the selection criteria:
- Scholastic record must reflect a proven ability to succeed at a college or university level
- Student must be a graduating senior from a charter high school that is a member of the California Charter Schools Association
- Student must demonstrate need for financial aid
Please choose a deserving member of your graduating high school class of 2012 and have them complete and submit an online scholarship application.
The application deadline is Wednesday, November 30, 2011, at 5:00 p.m.
Scholarship awards will be payable to the recipient upon proof of his/her enrollment into an accredited four-year or two-year public or private university or college. Award winners will be notified in January 2012 and will be featured on our website and in the program at the 19th Annual California Charter Schools Conference & Advocacy Week, February 27-March 1, 2012.
