Legislative Visits are Critical

October 6, 2011 Now is the time to invite your legislators out to visit your school sites. The legislators are not back in session until January, so many are in their local offices more frequently. It is critical that our legislators understand charter school issues and what better way for them to learn about them than to see and hear directly from the students, parents and staffs of charter schools. So if you are having an event such as open house or back to school night or are celebrating test scores, please don't forget to invite your local legislator. If you can give them an opportunity to speak in front of a group or with parents, they are more likely to attend. Also, remember their schedules are busy and the more lead time you give them the better. Fridays are especially good days for most legislators as well. Let me know if you need help finding the contact person for your legislator. You can also go to our advocacy page for more info.
