September 16, 2011 The National Alliance for Public Charter Schools announced this Friday, September 16, that their president and CEO Peter C. Groff was leaving his post after little over a year of service. Click here for the Alliance's press release, and also read CCSA president and CEO Jed Wallace's statement.

Groff, who headed the National Alliance since July 2010, became an active voice in the charter movement nationwide in a year that was pivotal for charter school growth. Several states passed legislation to increase charter school growth--including North Carolina and Tennessee--while others experienced unprecedented attacks, like here in California. Throughout this, the Alliance has been supportive and helpful in increasing awareness of charter public schools, and their pivotal role in education reform.

We wish Peter all the best in his new role, as he will now serve as Senior Advisor of legislative outreach efforts with the Black Alliance for Educational Options.

Ursula Wright, COO of the National Alliance, will be serve as interim CEO effective immediately.
