September 22, 2011 The CDE website has important information for charter schools. Here are three important opportunities for you.

Charter 20 Day Attendance Report

If this is your first year of operation and instruction began by September 30th or if your school is a continuing charter school adding one or more grade level, you may apply for a special advance apportionment for General Purpose Entitlement and Charter Schools Categorical Block Grant. Please visit the CDE website for more information and instructions. The filing deadline is October 31, 2011.

Tobacco-Use Prevention Education

Help fight youth tobacco use at your school! Charter schools interested in providing tobacco-use prevention education (TUPE) to grades six through twelve and are certified tobacco free might be eligible for funding for TUPE. Funding is available through a competitive application process so please visit the CDE website today for eligibility and application information. The application deadline is December 16, 2011.

State Board of Education Recruiting Student Board Member

High School Seniors in California have the unique opportunity to sit on the State Board of Education as a voting member and represent the California student's voice. The student appointed to this position will have the opportunity to impact California's education policy and develop leadership skills. The CDE website has application information as well as a brochure and poster that can be printed and distributed at your school. The deadline to submit an application for the 2012-13 year is October 14, 2011.
