Aug. 24 and 25: Medi-Cal Claiming Programs Information Sessions
August 23, 2011 As you may know, LAUSD is close to completion of the ARRA funds projects for charter schools. One of the few remaining projects was the Medi-Cal billing service for charters. A vendor has been selected and charters have the opportunity to access these services at no cost. As with the other projects, there is a very small window of opportunity; the contract was only approved yesterday and the first part of the work must be completed by Aug. 30. In order to provide information about the services and and how to access them, the vendor, Accelify, is hosting two separate dinners THIS WEEK:
Dinner and Registration Event #1: Wednesday August 24
Marriott Burbank Hotel
2500 N. Hollywood Way
Burbank, CA 91505
Dinner and Registration Event #2: Thursday August 25
Sheraton Los Angeles Downtown
711 South Hope Street
Los Angeles, CA 90017
Both events are scheduled from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Dinner will be provided. RSVP to Natalie@accelify.com and indicate which meeting you will attend, your name and the name of your school.
What Are the Medi-Cal Claiming Programs?
Under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA), schools must provide medically necessary services to special education students. While IDEA provides some of the funding for this program, it is not nearly enough, and schools must pay for the balance out of their general funds.
To help close the gap, schools can bill Medi-Cal for delivering these services (LEA Medi-Cal Billing Option Program), and for costs associated with administering the LEA program (Medi-Cal Administrative Activities "MAA" Program).
Schools must properly manage many moving parts to conform to federal and state regulations - and the administrative efforts required to receive Medi-Cal reimbursements present a challenge. Every year missed claiming opportunities represent hundreds of millions of dollars lost.
Your school may already be participating in one or both of the school-based Medi-Cal programs, but - even still - you may not be receiving your full reimbursements. Accelify's experience has proven that seemingly simple improvements such as better training, in-depth claim reviews, and attention to detail render impressive results.
How Can Accelify Help?
Accelify works with schools to ensure that these important revenue opportunities are maximized. The company implements thorough consulting, management and training programs, in addition to smart technologies that automate many aspects of the claiming process. This hands-on approach significantly reduces workloads for school personnel, and has a dramatic impact on reimbursements. Additionally, Accelify personnel take on much of the ongoing workload associated with program management, further enabling your school to maximize its available reimbursements.
Accelify's services include:
- A comprehensive gap analysis to identify weaknesses and opportunities for improvements to current claiming processes and service documentation practices.
- Robust training and support programs designed to engage every member of your staff that participates in the Medi-Cal programs.
- Hands-on program management to help school staff manage the claiming programs and ensure compliance with state and federal regulations.
How Much Will the Program Cost?
As part of our agreement with Accelify, we are pleased to be able to offer charters a significant discount on the company's standard fees. In addition, LAUSD is paying five years of licensing fees for Accelify's Medi-Cal technology solutions, which means these systems are available to your school free of cost. The best news, however, is that no fees will be due until your school receives its reimbursements from the federal government. There are absolutely no start-up fees.
