This week, the California Charter Schools Association (CCSA) held the 19th Annual Charter Schools Conference in Sacramento. The conference is an opportunity to get our charter members and supporters together in one place for a chance to get resources and learn about issues and challenges charter schools face, and also to learn from each other.

CCSA also honored some of our schools and leaders with Hart Vision Awards, and announced the winners of the Susan Steelman Bragato scholarship.

One event that stood out was the Rally for Funding Equity at the State Capitol. Seeing so many charter leaders, parents, students and supporters in one place to demand for equity had a lasting effect on many of our attendees and staff, and ensured our voices, united, were heard.

In this week's Charter News Round-Up, we wanted to highlight some of the stories from the 19th Annual Charter Schools Conference that were profiled in the media.

Read CCSA's press release on the rally, which included speakers Governor Jerry Brown, CCSA's president and CEO Jed Wallace, Margaret Fortune of Fortune School, and Jackie Elliot, founder of the PUC schools. The Sacramento Bee covered the rally, as did the California Channel and Capitol Public Radio. We will bring you those stories when they are posted.

St. HOPE Public School 7's Hart Vision Award for Charter School of the Year was featured in the Sacramento Bee, Capitol Public Radio, and KCRA (NBC-TV).
