The team behind the new education documentary Waiting for "Superman" is celebrating teachers this week with a special ticket offer. Davis Guggenheim, the film's director, notes that teachers "deserve much more than this, but here is something to show our appreciation."

Continues Guggenhim:

I am so glad that the film Lesley (Chilcott, the film's producer) and I made has sparked conversation, debate and even some disagreement. That's exactly what we hoped the film would do. We want even more people to join the conversation, and we especially want teachers to engage, so this week, the film's distributor is announcing that theater owners are offering teachers who show their credentials at the box office the chance to buy tickets to Waiting for "Superman" at a reduced rate.

My favorite thing is to hear from a teacher who has seen the film because they live it every day, so they get it - the good and the bad. Their reactions move me and that is why I am so glad discount tickets are being made available to them this week.

The discount ticket is good for any one single published show time at participating theaters. The special offer is valid from Monday, November 15, 2010, through Thursday, November 18, 2010. Prices and participation may vary.
