New Research Portal for Charter Schools Embarking on Facilities Projects
The Local Initiatives Support Corporation (LISC) created a research portal called SchoolBuild: From Idea to Construction to provide a one-stop shop to school leaders looking to develop facilities for charter schools. The portal guides schools through the entire facility-development process, from start to finish, and provides practical insights and solutions to charter school leaders at any and all stages of the process.

Proposition 51, the K-14 School Facilities Bond, passed on November 8, 2016 with 55% of the vote. Proposition 51 includes $500 million for charter public school facilities. Applications for bond funds will not be available for a few months. We are pleased to announce that Superintendent John Deasy has affirmed his commitment to continue to develop long-term facilities solutions for charter schools as a way to relieve Prop. 39 demands. As a result of our recent efforts and communications with LAUSD, the Superintendent is requiring staff to articulate a process for distribution of bond funds through the use of augmentation grants, in order to support continued development of long term facilities solutions.
