KIPP Raíces Academy kicked off the 2011-12 school year in its new long-term home in East LA, the Otis Booth Campus. Thanks to the generous contributions of the school's supporters, KIPP Raíces Academy now has a warm and welcoming building for their "Achievers" and their families. The school celebrated the official Grand Opening of the Otis Booth Campus last month with key supporters, community partners, and a very talented group of student performers. Speakers included Supervisor Gloria Molina and LAUSD School Board President Mónica García.

In other exciting KIPP Raíces news, Founding Principal Amber Young Medina received the ultimate surprise - a total office makeover courtesy of The Nate Berkus Show! Prior to the move, Mrs. Medina had to split her time between two school campuses while using her car as a "mobile office." Nate Berkus and his design team enlisted a dozen Achievers to help design Mrs. Medina's first-ever office, where she could provide a welcoming environment for students and families. Watch the Achievers in action and see the final reveal of the office remodel!

KIPP Raíces Academy offers a rigorous instructional program designed to build the necessary foundation that will ensure our students' success in the future. The program nurtures well-rounded critical thinkers who love learning, and at the same time enables them to master the California content standards. The school's students are not only excellent academic achievers in reading and mathematics; they are artists, scientists, authors, athletes, and agents of change.
