Public Charter School Grant Program

Funding to assist in the development to open high-quality charter schools. The primary focus of the Public Charter Schools Grant Program is to create charter schools that will provide public school choice to students whose assigned traditional public school is chronically low-performing.

Deadline: April 3, 2018

Eligibility: Local educational agencies; nonprofit organizations. The applicant must have an approved charter from the district or county office of education where the school will be located, or the State Board of Education, by May 10, 2018. A newly established or conversion charter school (that is NOT receiving Title I SIG funds) may apply for a planning and implementation (P/I) grant. If open, the school must not have been serving students prior to July 1, 2016.

Award Amount: Up to $575,000
